Xcel Energy increased their giving to United Way of Dunn County this year!
February 2010: Wal-mart Distribution Center in Menomonie has long been a big supporter of United Way. Last year, 78% of their associates participated by investing in United Way of Dunn County. This year, they are aiming for 85% participation! They are using a number of thoughtful, innovative incentives to help reach that goal. Thank you, Wal-Mart Distribution Center! You really show how to LIVE UNITED!
As of February 16, 2010, Home Depot had donated a shipment a week for five consecutive weeks through their 'Framing Hope' Gifts In Kind program! The donations included 10 pallets of insulation, valued at about $7,000! This was in addition to all the other building materials and other goods they donated in those shipments. The insulation will warm at least 10 houses and mobile homes in Dunn County, and the other goods will help improve lives in many ways!
Jason Simonson, of Realty Executives Premier in Menomonie, donates the use of his moving van for pickups and deliveries for the C-3 Center. His leadership makes a difference to many people here, in Dunn County, where we live.

MENOMONIE WAL-MART DISTRIBUTION CENTER CAMPAIGN IS TOPS!
Wal-Mart Distribution Center #6025 in Menomonie was recently recognized for being the top performer among all Distribution Centers in the Wal-Mart Associates Giving Program. Jeremy Hodges of the Wal-Mart Foundation stated, “This speaks to the high quality of our DC’s Associates, and to the carefully cultivated ties between the DC and the United Way of Dunn County.”
BEYOND THE BLUE RIBBON FOR KIDS AWARD GIVEN TO UNITED WAY AGENCY
Watch Us Grow Children’s Village, a United Way program partner since 2004, won the 2009 ‘Beyond the Blue Ribbon for Kids’ award for the Wisconsin program with the most potential to develop child abuse prevention awareness initiatives by expanding and building on their accomplishments.
The award comes with $1,000 to help support the initiatives and a $50 certificate for Blue Ribbons for Kids educational materials.
Director Margaret Holzhueter says, “We are networking with Human Services and other community agencies to purchase the best kinds of materials. We are so thankful for the opportunity to be able to provide some of this to our clients and all parents of Dunn County.”
The Blue Ribbons for Kids awareness campaign was created by the Wisconsin Children's Trust Fund, Child Abuse Prevention Fund of Children's Hospital and Health System and Children's Service Society of Wisconsin's Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin, creating a public-private partnership of shared resources, planning and materials development.

If you have clean, functional furniture, appliances or household goods that you no longer need, they don’t have to gather dust in your basement or rot in a landfill.
They can have a second life in the home of someone who could really use it, right here in Dunn County!
If you can not bring it to our site, our volunteers will pick up your unwanted household items and make sure they get tot those who need them most.
Examples of what we are looking for: Couches, beds, lamps, dressers, stoves, refrigerators, tables, chairs, pots and pans, dishes, utensils and bedding.
